Bail was set at $3 million for a man accused of murdering his wife in their Manasquan home in 2005. Alan Stoedter, 62, drove to the Manasquan Police Department and said his house had been ransacked and his wife had been shot. Police found Donna Stoedter, 43, dead on the bedroom floor. Authorities have not recovered the gun.

The state could save millions by changing sentencing laws so non-violent drug offenders get treatment and supervision instead of incarceration, a new study found. The activist Drug Policy Alliance said New Jersey spends $331 million annually jailing non-violent drug offenders and is losing taxable income by limiting offenders' future employment.
